Saat melewati jaring-jaring benang pada dream catcher, mimpi buruk akan tertangkap didalamnya, sedangkan mimpi indah akan lolos dan jatuh pada manusia melalui bulu-bulu unggas yang menjuntai.
Meski berasal dari dataran Amerika, dream catcher justru lebih terkenal diluar Amerika, bahkan di negeri-negeri Asia yang jauh dari Amerika. Alasannya sederhana, yaitu karena bentuknya yang eksotis dan bahannya yang tergolong mudah. Jika anda mau, anda bisa membeli dream catcher karena banyak yang menjualnya di ecommerce.
